A couple years ago an idea started rolling around in our noggins. In our corner we had the person everyone wants on their side– MOM! We three gals decided it sure was a shame that there was a barn at Mom and Dad’s that was only being used for farm stuff! Surely, a barn can do more than store tractors, hay bales and a lifetime collection of lumber odds & ends– right?! So, the idea was born…and we wore Dad down won Dad over (thanks, Mom!). Aside from exclaiming “IT’S A BARN!” every time there is mention of pressure washing, rugs, curtains or wreaths, Dad’s been a good sport.
So, What is the Barn?
The barn was built in the 1960’s by our Granddaddy as a place for his three young boys to raise livestock. It’s always been on our parents’ property. We grew up taking barefoot treks to the barn and we’ll never forget the excitement of one time finding newborn kittens snuggled in straw. Nowadays, the barn stores tractors, firewood…and (now!) EMBELLISH TREASURES! There will be cows mooing in the pasture this summer and there’ll also be an ecclectic collection of handmade, handpicked and well-loved items. But, please- put Dad’s mind at ease and remember: “IT’S STILL A BARN!”— a barn that never looked so good!
Why is the Barn Named Hickory Hollow?
In the field by the barn, in a hazy hollow, stands one lone Hickory tree that Dad and his brothers climbed as boys.
Why’s the Event Called Flea-for-Y'all?
We love a good play on words and, truly, it’s a perfect name. It’s a flea market mixed with a free-for-all.
What Will We Be Selling?
We’ll always be creators of crafty things and collectors of cool junk– which is just the niche Flea-For-Y’all will fill! Everything we have will be lovingly selected and our inventory will be constantly evolving.
What Can You Expect?
Come expecting a beautiful, yet rustic, space filled with treasures. We love staging our events; it’s something we spend lots of time doing when we participate in a sale. We’re excited to have our own space that will be ours to take all the time we need/want for staging– expect the unexpected! Come expecting to sit and stay a bit, too– no need to rush off. We plan to make shopping comfortable and enjoyable for everyone
